Inspired by delicious desserts and breakfast foods, Leslie Dallion decided to combine her talent for making objects out of clay with her crafty nature to present to the world her line of scented miniature dessert jewelry, Pancake Meow!
Overcome by her love for Strawberry Shortcake miniatures, 5 years ago Leslie asked herself the question, "How might I go about making adorable jewelry that also smells yummy?" Faced with this challenge, Leslie decided to take her favorite desserts and try to create tiny replicas. She toyed around with different ideas until she found the right bits of this and that to create her very first miniature stack of pancakes, topped with a melting pat of butter and dripping syrup.
Thrilled with the result, Leslie proceeded to develop a unique set of tasty treats such as cupcakes, ice cream cones, caramel apple pie, banana cream cake, donuts, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, hot fudge brownies, croissants, and strawberry crepes scented with such clever fragrances as Mocha Expresso Her Feelings, Cotton Candy Is Dandy, and Banana Split Her Pants.
The Pancake Meow charms are meant to be worn around the neck or wrist to the delight of everyone who sees them! Each piece is hand made, lovingly crafted one-at-a-time by Leslie, lending a unique charm to each piece of pie or pastry. Many attempt to mimic her creations, but a true Pancake Meow original is one-of-a-kind. Leslie relies on the fanciful world inside her head to come up with new desserts and ways to create them. How does she get the glaze on her cinnamon roll charm to have that special shimmer? How does she manage to make the meringue that tops her lemon pies so fantastically fluffy? 'I am very good at keeping secrets, I can tell you that!' Leslie proudly professes. She will admit it has a bit to do with her obsession with textures and her preference for using her own techniques rather than relying on store bought molds.
When not making miniature desserts, Leslie Dallion takes on illustration commissions and makes music in her pop group. While it is true that she can be found up to her elbows in clay most of the time, Leslie is delighted to be able to spend her days creating work that she truly loves and of which she is undeniably proud!
